About our domain name pricing:
Knowing what a domain name is worth is at best, an inexact science. There are companies and services that attempt to price domain names using special formulas based upon name length, the top level domain (TLD), popularity with search engines of words in the name, human review, and so on.
There seem to be several pretty well-established domain namevalue 'truths':
- Shorter names are easy to remember, thus, more valuable.
- Dot com names are more valuable than dot net names, dot info names, etc.
- Domain names with fewer words are better.
- Domain names without hyphenation are better.
- Domain names without unusual spelling are better; though the web has produced some recognized misspellings and contractions.
The domain names we have for sale have estimated values supplied by a website called nameboy.com. They provide this valuable service free or for a donation - yes, we have sent them some money - it is a valuable service. It gives us a starting point for the valaue of a domain. Some of the name valuations seen high - some seem low. You can visit their web site to see their description of how they evaluate domain names. We generally price our domains somewhat below their evaluation unless we feel that the name holds some serious potential for a site which could be branded easily as a business. Then we price it higher.
The bottom line is that it is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
