November, 2006 to March, 2007 - Parked!

Our Winter Pics are Here. Coming soon...

This year we decided to try workcamping instead of just vacationing for the winter. We posted our resume at workcamper.com and received two offers, which we decided to decline because they both involved cleaning restrooms - we're not quite that poor. We knew we wanted to be near MJ's folks, so we wrote to a number of RV parks we were familiar with and received an offer from Alamo Rose Mobile Home and RV Park (link) in Alamo, TX. Mary Jane works in the office part time, where she really enjoys the people contact, and I am involved with various light maintenance projects (not cleaning bathrooms). It's a 'medium size park full of nice people who enjoy having a good time.

Our favorite park events are shuffleboard (Randy), water volleyball (MJ especially enjoys this), and we love our Friday night dances with Ronnie Furr and his beautiful wife Terri. We have worked quite a few of the dances volunteering in the kitchen (and sneaking out to grab a dance now and then). We are getting back into line dancing, thanks to Pat our instructor.

We actually are doing a little biking. Sana Anna Wildlife Refuge has a great bike path where we can stop and look at the birds. Also biked in Bentson Texas Park, again a lovely paved bike path.

We enjoyed a fabulous week long visit from Deb and Dan Vogel. The weather cooperated and we enjoyed showing them the valley. We also loved sharing the holidays with them. Deb just cooked and cooked and cooked in their terrific 5th wheel. One very bad thing happened while the Vogel's were in Texas - their wonderful little dog, Jassmine, died on their way home to Minnesota. We were so sad for them, Jazz was a great friend to all.

Also visiting this year were Mary Jane's nieces Becca and Andrea. They came down to the valley for Grandpa's 85th birthday. They loved seeing South Padre Island and spending a day in Mexico. We loved having the company!

New Camera - for Christmas Randy received a new digital camera - a Nikon D40. Some of the pictures that we now post will include links to the full size images (large) so you can use them for screen savers, etc.
